Illustrated by painter Pavlos Habidis, a Thessalonica native, this not so new Travel Scrapbook published by Louis Vuitton reveals a city bathed in light, at turns fascinating, mysterious, calm and vibrant. Louis Vuitton Athens Travel Scrapbook © P. Habidis / L. Brémaud (Published on July 2nd 2004)
Hello readers, this travel notebook invite you to discover a beautiful city of Athens. What I really love about this roughly hand painted notebook is that, it includes blank pages for adding my very own personal notes (I’m not going to conteng-conteng the book) postcards and amazingly rough sketches! Through his watercolors, we can totally see that Pavlos Habidis evokes Athens’s unique atmosphere, its extraordinary cultural legacy, artistic heritage and popular appeal. His pages will definitely take us from one neighborhood to another, from Monastiraki and its delightful flea market, to Kolonaki at the heart of Athenian elegance where the old taverns have been replaced by the stars of haute-couture, to Plaka, where through the ages little white house’s cling to the terraces surrounding the Acropolis and the nights vibrate to rhythms of bouzoukis and sirtakis.
